The Purpose of Individual Counseling

Individual counseling (also called “talk therapy,” “psychotherapy,” or “therapy”) is when you talk one-on-one with a trained, licensed mental health expert in a safe, secure, loving environment.
Clients use individual therapy to address issues that impact the entire family such as grief, anger, depression, anxiety, and conflict, plus many more.
Individual counseling is meant to help you understand yourself better – why you think, feel and do the things you do, and what started the pattern of behavior in the first. This is an opportunity to receive support on issues like depression, anxiety, parenting, substance abuse, relationship struggles, career changes, school difficulties, and similar issues.
Our licensed, expert team of therapists is able to pull you back into a loving, cohesive pattern of living.
Allen Counseling Center offers offering Adult Counseling in Allen, Texas; Plano, Texas; McKinney, Texas; Frisco, Texas and Surrounding Areas. Nights and weekends available.
What to Expect In Individual Counseling for Adults and Teens
Counseling can be scary. You’re already feeling alone, fearful, and lonely through something huge, so opening up to a counselor you’ve never met can be hard. We know you have probably thought about getting some help but sat on the decision because making the first phone call is difficult. And not all therapists are the same, so we suggest starting with a FREE 30-minute consultation to see if you feel comfortable with one of our therapists.
At I Choose Change, we strive to be a safe place for all races, ethnicities, and religious affiliations. We provide research-based therapy to clients ranging from age 3 to 93. We have two playrooms, four tween rooms, and six adult counseling rooms for our clients to explore beliefs, thoughts, feelings, and behaviors while feeling unconditionally accepted. Our licensed therapists help you work through challenging situations, difficult feelings or negative perceptions while helping you better understand yourself and others.
Counselors use research-based therapies in our office, including:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Attachment-Based Therapy
Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT)
Gottman Therapy
