Adolescent Detective
I am a detective of adolescent angst: I read between the lines to get to the inner meaning clients are trying to convey. I work with kids as young as 10 years old and teens up to age 19, addressing Depression, Anxiety, Attention Deficit-Hyperactivity Disorder, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Suicidal thoughts and behaviors, self-harming behaviors, study skills, and career planning.
Emotional Regulator
I am a detective of adolescent angst: I read between the lines to get to the inner meaning clients are trying to convey. I work with adolescents on not only understanding their emotions but also communicating them. Together, we work on building their confidence and their connection with themselves.
Font of Holistic Knowledge
I am a holistic font of knowledge for parents: I help educate parents on what their children are experiencing and teach parents ways to empower their children to continue to grow and change in all areas of their lives. When working with children and teens, I believe it is instrumental to their success in treatment to work with parents to improve communication, strengthen relationships and help parents regain power and understanding of their children.
More about me…
I am a first-generation college student who attended Texas A&M University at Commerce, where I studied Sociology with a minor in counseling. While in my undergraduate program, I joined the Ronald E. McNair Post Baccalaureate Achievement Program that helped me complete research on the impact of mass media on the body perception of African American, Latina, and Caucasian women. The completion of my research further pushed me into applying for graduate school to pursue a career as a licensed professional counselor. I graduated with a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with a focus on Families from The University of Texas at Tyler. I have worked with children, teens, and their parents for three years in inpatient, intensive outpatient, and outpatient settings in the hopes of helping families come together and strengthen their bonds that impact who they develop into.
