Serving Women and Teens

julie almagro

As a wife and mom, I am well acquainted with the beautiful, crazy chaos life can throw at you, and the struggles that can come in the midst of it all. Whether you feel stuck in certain areas of your life, are struggling in relationships or are living through some major challenges, trauma and hurt, I am a safe, nonjudgmental and empowering person to walk with you on your journey towards self-discovery, personal freedom and healthier relationships.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor – Intern under the supervision of Jenny Wang (license #64766), which means I completed my graduate counseling degree, am provisionally licensed by the State of Texas and regularly meet with Jenny as I complete the required 3,000 hours to become fully licensed. It also means I charge a lower session rate and make counseling more affordable!

I have a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work from Baylor University, a Master of Arts in Urban Ministry from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary and a Master of Arts in Professional Counseling from Liberty University. My background includes work in professional counseling, multi-cultural ministry and social work, and how I help clients incorporates my breadth of training and experiences. I utilize the I Choose Change TEA process as I work with clients to:

  • Identify areas of hurt and desired change
  • Explore client relationship history and hurtful life patterns
  • Provide tools for self-growth, change and healing

I am especially passionate about working with teens, women and couples, and believe a healthy sense of identity and self-worth enables us to genuinely be who we are in relationships. I want to join you in addressing areas of hurt and desired change while also giving you tools for self-growth and healing.

My Counseling Experiences Include:

  • Trauma
  • Domestic/Partner Violence
  • Abuse
  • Anger Issues
  • Anxiety
  • Co-Dependency
  • Communication and Relationship Challenges
  • Depression
  • Family of Origin Issues
  • Parenting Difficulties
  • Spiritual and Church Struggles
  • Struggles with Self- Esteem and Self-Worth
  • Teen Issues

Relationships are foundational to our lives. When we experience problems in relationships, we often find ourselves stuck in the same hurtful patterns and cycles. We can’t change others, but we can change ourselves, become comfortable in our own skin and find genuine freedom in relationships.

I want to help you identify and overcome those unhelpful patterns and hurtful cycles so you can live a more confident, satisfying and fulfilling life. I believe everyone has value, worth and the capacity to choose change!
