If the first thing you hear in the morning is “Where is my backpack? What is for breakfast? Where are my shoes? ” then I know you are probably and most likely running on fumes.  Motherhood is a roller coaster with moments of extreme glee and joy and others with sheer pain and fear. As mothers and women we need a place where we can let our hair down, put our feet up, and focus on numero uno!  We are all in this together.

Since becoming a mother and suffering from post-partum depression, I feel a great sense of responsibility to help other women and mothers. If you find you are feeling anxious, depressed, insecure, lonely, and lost then pick up the phone and make an appointment! Let my couch be the place to unwind, find solitude, and bask in the child-free hour of perspective, guidance, and nurturing you deserve. I would love to help you uncover and discover the “YOU” under that pile of laundry and dishes.

Maybe motherhood isn’t what you are trying to balance. You might find yourself lost in a sea of have “musts” and “shoulds” and feel overwhelmed, in a daze. I believe one of the most important things a woman can do is build her army of support. We need people that are not only going to build us up when we are down, but also keep us grounded when we are losing our footing. We need a place where we feel safe. Pick up the phone and make an appointment. Or better, yet, go online to schedule. God knows you’re probably reading this in the wee hours of the night once you’ve tucked the kids all in for the night anyway.

I believe change is possible when you have the right tools to change. Many people find themselves overwhelmed and stuck in a life, behaviors and habits they no longer want or need. I am here to help guide and facilitate change by helping you set small and achievable goals that will help you move forward and improve your life for the better. Consider this your Super Soul Sunday, but without Oprah, and without being amongst her trees. But, you have my couch, some lovely plants, and a therapist interested in no one but you for one solid hour.

I have been a Licensed Professional Counselor for over 11 years. I have a Bachelor of Science from Texas Woman’s University and a Master of Education in Counseling from the University of North Texas. I use a direct but warm approach with my clients. My counseling approach utilizes a variety of orientations and therapies such as, person centered and cognitive behavioral therapy. I will meet you where you are but empower you to move where you want to go!

  • Susan Jeffers “Feel the Fear and Do It Anyway”You could fill in the blank of just about any negative feeling, and the book would fit. This book is older, but still amazing!

  • Louise Hay’s “You Can Heal Your Life”You are so much more powerful than you ever thought! This book helps helps you discover damaging self-talk that could be wreaking havoc on your physical and emotional life. 

  • Wayne Dyer’s “Live an Impaired Life” – Any book by the late Wayne Dyer is so empowering. This one suggests that we are all flawed, and it’s okay. It’s what helps us move along in our journey. 

  • Wayne Dyer’s “Your Thoughts Change Your Life” – Another great book by the lovely Wayne Dyer, who let’s us know that we can really do anything we put our mind to. Our life is of our own design, and even the things you feel like you aren’t control of, can be more growth-inducing that you realize.

Diana’s Qualifications and Expertise

 

Throughout my career I have worked with individuals dealing with depression, anxiety, self-esteem/self-empowerment, relationship/family concerns, and personal and emotional growth. I have also facilitated counseling groups for at risk teens, sexual/physical abuse victims, working mothers, and parents. In addition, to my work in mental health field I also have a passion for public speaking on topics such as motivation, fear/anxiety and self-improvement and empowerment.

I have been married for 15 years and have two children.  In my spare time I pretend I am culinary chef and spend a lot of my free time cooking with my Instant Pot and baking. I also enjoy my daily dose of exercising whether it be walking, biking, or engaging in some High Intensity Interval Training.
