I Choose Change Staff
Licensed Counselors, Registered Play Therapists, Expressive Art Therapists and Life Coaches
All I Choose Change staff are expert, licensed Mental Health Practioners. With advanced degrees in psychology, counseling, social work, and marriage and family therapy, we are a diverse group of individuals with a wide array of experience and expertise. Serving Collin County for over 12 years, we provide high quality, effective counseling and coaching services to meet a diverse population of needs.
We are goal-oriented counselors, utilizing principles of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Attachment Theory in our practice. All counselors are different; however, at I Choose Change, we believe so strongly in the same principles – what Jennifer Slingerland Ryan calls The TEA Process – that we regularly train and learn from each other. We have similar styles which allows clients to get a similar service no matter which counselor you see at I Choose Change.
Jennifer Slingerland Ryan, M.Ed., LPC-S is the Managing Director and Founder of I Choose Change. She has been in the field of Counseling for over thirteen years, and in private practice for eight. Through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and the principles of Attachment Theory, Jennifer strives to create a peaceful bridge to change for individuals, couples and families. Mrs. Ryan has created her own brand of counseling – The TEA Process – which all counselors at I Choose Change are encouraged to use.
Jenny Wang, M.A., LPC strives to help people find meaning in their motivations and life situations through theories such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Person Centered Therapy, and Logotherapy. One of Jenny’s many passions includes helping to close the generational and cultural gap between immigrant parents and their bi-cultural children. She is compassionate and eager to assist anyone at any age.
Amanda Myers, M.Ed., LPC is a Child and Family Therapist. She takes the wisdom of theorist Alfred Alder, with an education from one of the top Play Therapy programs in the world (University of North Texas) to help individuals realize how their early childhood experiences, impressions, and perceived successes and failures have shaped their lives. Through play techniques, Amanda is able to communicate with children in a way many parents never thought possible.
Gretchen Manes, M.Ed., M.S., LPC-intern believes therapy is a mode through which individuals can gain insight and discover how to move to a place of contentment. She also considers counseling an opportunity to work in tandem with parents to help families solve existing concerns, reach new goals, and experience full joy in life.
