Week 29′s Challenge – Remembering Childhood

One of my favorite toys as a child was my record player. I remember using it all the way up into middle school. It played music, read me Golden books, and even helped me with a science experiment or two. I was recently reminded of my record player when my children were watching Bambi on the Disney Channel, and the song “Little April Showers” came on. It immediately brought me back to being a 6 year old and listening to the story “Bambi” and the songs in my room. I immediately felt a sense of everything being all right in the world, contentment and peace.
Music is still a way that I self-soothe and bring calmness into an often busy and jam-packed schedule type of life. Whether it’s in the car on the way to work, or singing with my kids, I find that music always puts order to my chaos.
We’re about to close out this month’s theme: Creativity/ Trying Something New.
The twist for this week’s Change Challenge is to actually try something old…again.
How did you self-soothe as a child? Do you still use that method in a way that works for you now? The challenge is to rediscover your childhood and incorporate what worked in a new way.
